Todd Wins at the KW Arts Awards!
This was a wonderful ceremony! I must give props to everyone who organized it, and put it together… lord knows this kinda thing takes allot of planning and work. Terry Barna & Susan Cook-Sheerer from Rogers Daytime, were wonderful MC’S. It was very elaborate this year and beautifully presented at the Center In The Square. Alex Tintinalli and I, both nominated in the ‘Leading Edge’ category both took home 1 each of the four winning spots. I was/am thrilled about it. I was suprised to be nominated again at all, and even more surprised now that I won. Thanks to my friend Paula for being my +1 at the Nominee Recognition Reception and thanks to my Mom and Dad for coming with me to the awards. It was great!
Todd Wins K.Y.A.C. Award!
It was a wonderful ceremony hosted by the K.Y.A.C. volunteers. I was lucky enough to win the award i was nominated for, the ‘Entreprenuership Award’. This award was sponsored by Research In Motion. Wonderful people the whole lot of them at the KYAC. I am flabbergasted, and generally genuinely flattered.
Bob Marley Tribute at Starlight Lounge
Mike Alviano is hosting a whack of local talent including the Jolly Llamas, Nine Mile, Skinny Phat, Mike Erb Trio and many more, including my lucky self.. to play songs by the legendary Bob Marley to raise money for the Grand River Cancer Center. It’s at The Starlight Lounge. More info at www.todddonald.com (where the shows are detailed.
Film-Scoring and “Buck Wild”
In the last month or so i’ve been lucky enough to be involved in peices being used in the score/soundtrack for the independant toronto-made film ‘BUCK WILD’. Nothing yet confirmed on it’s release and completion as to my knowledge. The peice called ‘Kinderbox’ composed by Su Alexanian, is the peice i’d performed and co-arranged guitar peices, and vocals to. In addition, my good friend Carrie Humphries (Host to ‘The Rock Show’ on CKMS) is making an independant movie, and has asked me to compose and produce an original song for the movie, I was more than excited and happy to. Currently i’m working on the song, it’s called ‘What Are You Looking At?’ .
Todd To Play GO! Festival 2008
The GO Festival is finally returning to Kitchener-Waterloo- it confirmed today and I am flattered! Once again, they’ve selected me, out of 280 applicants to be one of the (two-digit number) to play 2008’s GO! Festival. I was lucky and honoured to play at GO! Festival last year, and played my set+ at the Duke Of Wellington on March 22nd, 2007. Visit the GO! related links below to spot more information and downloadable media as it comes through. And i’ll keep you posted as best as I can for more info regarding my set date and venue, as well as the complete schedule if possible. I recommend you GO! to the GO! Festival, support our scene, and I promise you that it will be enjoyed, I know plenty of people who all went for the all-access passes and had a great time! I certainly did!
“Todd’s Second Record” #1 At CKMS
I truly don’t know how it happened or who to thank, but a serious thankyou CKMS for their overwhelming love, support and flattery with this ranking, and if you only knew, so much more. I should at least, thank by name all the wonderful friends I have at that wonderful station: (and I will) Carrie, Jamie, Amber, KLP, Kevin and more… thank you for all your love CKMS! I’m honoured more than you would beleive to be played at all, but to have the CD chart, and hell to reach #1!? Umm, way to go me!
Todd Nominated for KW Arts Award Again!
I was honoured to be nominated the one time for the 2006 KW Arts Awards, but this year, it was totally un-expected. I say that mainly becuase a friend who will be named anonymous for this news bull- had told me she’d nominated me not too long after, then told me to check it out online, so again this year- I have no clue who to thank. I was thrilled to even be at the recognition reception last time, but it was of course, a splendid evening at the Walper Terrace for the Ceremony. This year the Ceremony is being held at Center In The Square on June 8th (Which will also be 3 years since I first played a show with Mr. Peter Katz). If the nominator is reading… I now know, and thankyou very very much. Oh, for those interested, i’m nominated in Leading Edge, and I say re-nominated, because that’s the category I was a nominee of in 2006.
Todd In Snap KW
If you get a chance, go visit snapkw.com, and be sure to search October 2007, under ‘Todd’s Second Record’, or Todd Donald cd launch’ / as well as January 2008 under ’90’s Rewind’. Both albums are for events that I played at covered by this wonderful monthly, yearbook-like, magazine. SNAP KW not only includes a calender for local events going on, as well as a SUDOKU game, but it includes up to 25 or so large photo-covered pages that wonderfully capture KW life. This can give you a glimpse into just what awesome culture you’ve been missing out on if you have, and lets you know how to get involved… OR lets you know also how to get them involved in your goings on!
2007 Retrospect
Hello there anybody who reads this. I’d first like to address that which is now behind us… last year, 2007. It was a fairly prosperous year for me interms of my lil indie carreer. One which I am happy to carry out into another year as always. It was a year of some really nice accomplishment and tremendous changes.
Here’s a list I like to call ‘highlights in my musical life 2007′
JANUARY- began sessioning some incredible people i was also meeting, for my T2R (Davide, Ron, Szabo, Steener, Bushlen and more…)
FEBRUARY- performed at the Starlight for the first time in the Johnny Cash tribute
MARCH- performed at the Go! Festival in Waterloo
JUNE- headlined Waddlefest with a full band performance
SEPTEMBER 20- Released ‘Todd’s Second Record’ with a successful run at getting press x4 and an incredible show of support from SO many amazing people.
Made allot of awesome new friends in the scene, and through my radio show as well (Russell & Tessa, Mike Daly, Union Of Lanterns ect.), Changed British Invasion to Indie Invasion, Shared a stage with Danny Michel, Emm Gryner, Bob Egan, Lindy, The Dunes, Ryan Brohman, Mike Erb, in addition to many friends from previous years. And personally- my family and I moved into a new house in July & survived a brutal car accident in November.
“Todd’s Second Record” at HMV Kitchener!
Wonderful little tidbit, a few weeks ago I spotted ‘Todd’s Second Record’ at HMV at Fairway Mall in Kitchener. If you’d like a CD and haven’t gotten it get, giddyup! Not only that but I checked out iTunes at school, not having the ability to search the iTunes store at home. and there were BOTH my Records, complete with TSR having been reviewed by a random dude named T-120.
